February Favourites!!

Pinch punch first day of the month! February has been and gone and the arrival of March means that i can make my February favourites post! This month has seen varying weather - at the start of the month we were still burried in a blanket of snow, and by the end of the month we saw a few days of sunlight. I used these favourites depending on whether it was cold or sunny so there isn't a pattern in my choices i'm afraid! So let's get started, my top 10 February faves!

This month i have become addicted to scented candles! I love that when i get home, my room smells divine. It's a great way to relax especially in a bubble bath or just before bed, and i am absolutley in love with Yankee Candles. They have a great selection of scents and i can't get enough of them. The jars look cute but i also like the small tumblers as well. These two scents are country lemonade and soft blanket.

Next is this biscuit colour nail varnish from Next's oh so nails range. It's not a colour i would normally go for but it has definatley grown on me and now i love it. I love how it's a nude/biscuit colour because it looks relaxed and is good for school. You can also get away with only one coat which is rare in many nail varnishes.

Now, i am a total LUSH junkie and i'm always looking for new things when i shop there. Mainly i go for the bath bombs but i decided to look for something new and i came across this. It's a lovely minty smell which is great because i like to feel fresh and clean after a shower. Predominantley i think that this smell is aimed at men because men obviously don't like florally smells, but i'm a girl and i love it!

I love lip balms and they are not only just a way to moisturize my lips but also something i do when i'm bored or stressed - i put on lip balm. Recently i have discovered the body shop born lippy range. As well as this raspberry flavour i love the orange and mango flavour and the watermelon flavour. They come in cute little pots and make your lips feel like velvet!
This is a hair product from the Rockholic TIGI range. It is a shine blaster and it smells like heaven! It is litterally the best smell i've ever smelt! You use it on wet hair and it gives you really soft and shiny hair! Plus you only need a pea sized amount each time so it lasts forever!
The first makeup product on my list is the Pixi nude shade wardrobe palette. It contains eye shadows and blush's which is convenient for travel, and all of the colours are gorgeous. It is a cheaper alternative to the Urban Decay Naked Palette, and i absolutley love it!
Another makeup product which i actually said "wow" when i used it, is this No7 extreme length mascara. Alot of mascara's out there have huge advertising schemes that claim to make your lashes look almost false and very long, but this mascara simply didn't need that because it actually makes your lashes 10x longer! I'd never seen a brush like it before; it rarely creates clumps and it spreads out your lashes. I LOVE this!
Now for the first fashion peice on my top 10; this month i have been in love with silky printed scarves, especially chains, ropes, and regal colours. To see my scarf take a look at another post of mine: http://alittlebirdytoldmesomethingawesome.blogspot.com/2012/02/vintage-fair.html (phew long link!) You can buy these scarves in all sorts of accessory stores such as accessorize. I love the silky fabric used and the patterns are beautiful!
This is my cuddly jumper that i go to when it's cold or i'm feeling cosy! So for the colder weeks in Feb, i've been glued to this. It's from Dorothy Perkins and it comes in this corally pink colour that reminds me of pink wafer biscuits! When i bought this i thought i'd be daring and the splash of colour really cheers me up and is great for colour blocking. It also comes in raspberry purple if you prefer :)
Finally, the last of my favourites for this month is a perfume from Marks and Spencers called Leilah. I actually bought it for my mum but i loved it so much that i also had to have one. It comes in a small 10cm bottle which is convenient for travel and the pink and gold packaging looks cute and sophisticated. The smell is also not too sweet but also not too mature, it's just right!! This perfume is under £10, a bargain!!!

Vintage Fair!

I've never been into vintage, but recently a friend has got me hooked, and after going to a vintage fair, i absolutley love it! When i first heard about this fair i was a bit hesitant and thought it would be like a junk sale, but when we arrived, it was really popular and there were some unique things there! Not everything was to my taste but after looking around, we found some pretty quirky items!

One thing i bought which we had to go back for because i couldn't make up my mind, was this Givenchy Tartin et Chocolat minature perfume bottle. The fragrance is so sweet and the bottle is so cute that i couldn't resist this bargain! It reminds me of a set my mum used to have that i liked to play with as a kid and i very rarely find them these days! After the fair, i found it online for ridiculous prices up to £30 when i got mine for only £2!!

Another thing i bought which i wouldn't usually buy is this quirky fuischa pink lego ring. They had lots of different colours but my friend and i bought the unusual colours that you wouldn't normally find in lego. They also sold scrabble letter jewellery and even rings with 2 pence peices on it!

The last thing i bought and didn't just wish i bought was this silky blue scarf. I was so happy with this bargain because there are ones similar sold in places like accessorize that are much more expensive. This one is a square and actually has a boat in the middle with a border of chains.

Among other things there were some gorgeous brooches and other jewellery bits and bobs; delicate vintage fashion magazines; band t-shirts and all sorts of clothing.

Food glorious food!

There are many bizare and outgoing prints for this summer including a fruity theme which has hit the highstreet like a tonne of bananas! They've been seen by Dolce and Gabanna numerous times on the catwalk (check out an older post new year, new you!) and especially in food oriented jewellery. Surprisingly, this yummy idea can be transformed from quirky and fun to elegant and mature very easily, and can tie in with other trends, such as block colour, to create a really bold and vibrant statement. If you want top quality apples on your clothes you can indulge yourself in high-end fashion for an exclusive and beautifully made peice, or you can take a trip down cheap and cheerful lane and pull off the same look for a fraction of the price. I'm going to show you an example of both, which people will be complimenting you on for months.

High-End fruity fashion peices:

FRUITA - Fruit shaped ring
Starting on the left, from Ted Baker is this beautifully made fruit shape ring. I am personally in love with the lemon shaped one but they also come in rasperry, green apple, and plum! They are so unique and juicy they look good enough to eat!!
The watermelon design skirt from Asos is incredibly quirky and loud! It's great for block colouring as well and i LOVE it! <3 It may be pricey at £45 but you are going to get your money's worth, and it will be something that no one else has!

Below are these original Charlotte Olympia Tooty Fruity shoes and they are incredibly out there! You've got get the look down to a T to pull these off but all they really need is confidence. Forget mastering one fruit, with these you've got a whole bowl!

Cheap and Cheerful:
Image 1 of ASOS T-Shirt In Strawberry PrintImage 1 of ASOS Vest with Chilli PrintAsos has a huge range of fruit and veg print clothes. On the right is a £16 strawberry print tee and on the left a chilli print £14 sleevless tee (not a fruit but still one of your five a day :D)
Finally these epic fruity converese! They are so original that i have never seen anything like them before and i think they are fabulous! They come in strawberry and lemon and make mouths water!

Block Colour for Summer!

It's time to add a splash of rainbow to your wardrobe because block colour outfits are big news! Block Colour can be playful and fun for day or sophisticated and alluring for an evening out, you can style it with chunky gold necklaces or quirky rings - block colouring is certainly one of the most versatile trends of the season! Diane Von Furstenberg, Lanvin, Gucci, Louis Vuitton; these are just some of the big fashion labels out there who have shown this rainbow of colour blocking in their collections, but it's also flooding the hightstreet shops; from Primark to Topshop, they are all getting in on the colourful action!

To make sure that the colours you pair don't clash, you can use a colour wheel. Colours that are opposite to or next to on the colour wheel go together perfectly. For example, blue goes great with orange, purple goes great with green...
