eye makeup effects

Eye makeup is tricky buisness; especially finding the right shades of eye shadow to suit different occasions. For example, i used to think it was unimportant to wear eyeshadow for everyday things, but when you find a nice subtle colour to suit your eye colour and skin tone, a good eye shadow can brighten up your eyes and make you look more awake and glowing. Although, it's fun to use a bold and outgoing colour for a night out or other special occasion, and it can transform you into someone new. Here are some tips of what effects and colours you can use for different occasions :)

this "glam eyes" quad eyeshadow set has 4 brilliant colours that can be used for different looks. The bottom peachy colour is great for everyday and works well on blue and green eyes. This season, Rimmel is going for a purple and green theme for eyeshadows and you can see on many of their advertising posters a model wearing purple and green eyeshadow together - you can see that it works really well especially on darker skin tones because bold colours may easily pale your face unless you wear a strong bronzer.

a balance of blue and green eyeshadow is great for flattering green eyes. It looks simple because of the similarity between the green eyeshadow and green eye, however it's also a strong colour that defines the outline of the eye nicely. It wouldn't work as well for blue eyes because the green would blend into the blue and therefore the eye would be overpowered with blue and the green would be forgotton. Green and blue blend in nicely together so this is a great way to avoid a layered effect.

Yellow eyeshadow is becoming more and more popular recently, but there are a few do's and don'ts when wearing yellow. Don't use a heavy amount of black eyeliner when using yellow to try and avoid looking like a bumblebee. Don't overpower it with bolder colours such as green or blue if you want yellow to be the block colour. Do buy a bold yellow such as the MAC range or else the yellow may appear to be gold, and do be careful with what lipstick you use because few lip colour work well with yellow.

eyeliner requires accuracy and patience. Unless you are a makeup guru genius, when using a new or blunt eyeliner it's always a challenge. Try getting as close to the eye as you feel comfortable to avoid it looking stripey, especially with coloured eyeliner. When using pencil eyeliner it's always  nice to smudge it slightly on the bottom line, and with liquid eyeliner, make sure you have a good amount on your wand so it doesn't look faded or creased, but not so much that it feels heavy on your eyelid.

Do they know it's christmas time at all?

Christmas is upon us, and our biggest question of all isn't just what colour should the christmas tree be?, or, what shall i get uncle Bob for christmas?, but what shall i wear for all of the parties i'm going to?!? Along with christmas means a tight budget, so most of us won't be going all out on Dolce and Gabbana. Being the little christmas angel i am, i bring you gifts of fabulous dresses that won't break the bank. Here are some of my favourites:

1).this blue satin 1 shoulder dress from Quiz is perfect for a christmas party. It's sophisticated and elegant but the royal blue colour really gives it that edge and makes it stand out. The one shouldered design is very chic, and a great illusion to draw attention away from stomach. Because we all eat to much over christmas ;)

2.
Shell Pink (Pink) Rainbow Beaded Shift | 232883472 | New LookNew Look has completely won me over with this Rainbow Beaded Shift dress. It looks good enough to eat, and definatley boxing day party worthy! Shift dresses always look laid back and effortless whilst also luxurious and graceful, and this one certainly ticks all those boxes. Pair with nude heels and a bit of gold bling and you're ready to kick back and enjoy the boxing day after party!

Everybody there would evnvy you as you float around the room in this asymmetric burgundy dress. I could overflow with adjectives in a minute...

So there are my 4 christmas and new year dresses. My favourite is definatley the shift dress but i would happily own them all. All of these goodies are under £40 but are top quality and even red-carpet worthy. Hope i've been a help with your most pressing christmas dilema. thanks for reading :)

Your bedroom. Your haven

Recently i've come to realise that a bedroom isn't just a place to sleep and dump all your stuff! While you're growing up, a bedroom is like your own little house. You can do what you want with it, and it's much more fun to be in when the walls around you aren't bare, but full of things you like. Whether it's posters to little bits and bobs from trinket shops, it all adds up, and makes your room a friendlier place.

Whilst searching for things i could put in my bedroom to make it more "me" i've realised that i don't need to, because all that stuff in my room that i thought to be clutter has now become more beautiful and representative of what i want my bedroom to be. So here are some photo's and captions showing off my life long creation:

As you enter my room this is what you see hanging in the door frame: a plastic washing line. It's my favourite thing of all because i think it's just so adorable. A few years ago i did some volunteer work in a charity shop; eventually i had to stop because i just kept buying instead of selling, and this was one of my many purchases.
When i was young, my room used to be head to toe in soft toys, but now i'm older, they are all in a cupboard and only the special little ones get to go on my shelf. So this is one of those national trust birds that my parents bought me, where they make a noise when you squeaze them. I dressed this one up in a tiny plastic tiara, and a bracelet around its neck - don't ask why :)!

i have bits of jewellery hanging all over the place
I fell in love with this cute collection of japanese fragrances "Harajuka lovers fragrance" by Christina Aguilera.

When i went to Australlia, we visited an old toy store, and everything was so expensive, all i could afford were these 4 miniture golly dolls. they are only the height of a fingernail!

This is my huge purple pillow. It's even bigger than in the photo! I have lots of beanbags and soft fluffy pillows in my bedroom so that i can just fling myself in and land comfortably XD
Here's a collection of stuff that i bought in Australlia that, when i bought, i thought that they'd end up in a box under my bed!
At this time of year, lush costmetics do brilliant gift boxes, including cute little tins crammed with bath bombs. A friend bought me this gingerbread house tin from lush which is also a moneybox. And that guy standing next to it is a knitted cave man called Ug :D
Finally my vast collection of shells. Again, i got this stuff from a holiday, actually from a house covered in shells which i might do a blog about another time. I haven't got round to sticking them on my bed frame and stuff yet but for now the cute trinket box is fine x

thankyou for reading about my room. i hope this has inspired you to decorate yours! :)

children in need!

Children in need is coming up and it's time to get fundraising!! There are so many things you can do to make money. You can do cake stalls or tombolas or raffles, but it's a good excuse to get creative and sporty too. You could do a sponsered swim or run, or make things to sell such as bracelets and other kinds of jewellery. Make a difference!
Here's some inspiration:

November A/W fashion

Winter is my favourite season, and mainly because the clothes you get to wear are the comfiest! Snuggly knitwear, cosy coats, wooly socks - it's my guilty pleasure.
Here's some of the hottest looks for this season you need to look out for!

male models dressed as girls hit the runway!

Not all was what it seemed in this years catwalk shows. Surprisingly, many of the female models displaying Marc by Marc Jacobs, Comme des Garcons and more at Paris and London fashion week this year, turned out to have not been born women at all.

This is Andrej Pejic, a 19 year old male and female model who is world famous for begining this boys dressed as girls catwalk craze. He made it into FHM's list of 100 sexiest women this summer but also No11 Models.com's Top 50 Male Models as well. Kind of a strange career choice if you ask me.

Other models like Andrej include Lea T, a transgender model who started her modeling career in January, and Valentijn de Hingh (no idea how you pronounce that!)

here are some pics of Andrej in fashion adverts:

10 most influencial fashion designers ever!

Here are what i think are the 10 most influencial fashion designers of our time! ;) It was incredibly hard to choose, and i could easily have done 100 most influencial fashion designers, but i ended up with these 10 legendary designers that i think deserve to be in my top 10!

1. Ralph Lauren
Since his debut began in the late 1960's, Ralph Lauren has become a great fashion hero. From his signature polo horse to the embroidered RL, Ralph Lauren is one of the most recognizable brands in history. The preppy style of Ralphs polo shirts, and original collection including classic tweed, and sweet feminine tailoring, to his fragrances, furniture and home accesories has made him world famous and ultimatley he is at the top of my list.

2. Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana
Dolce and Gabbana are powerfully known for their take on classic, glamorous collections using traditional elements. They are a perfect team when creating trendy, modern fashion with an edge that flatters men and women. Their corsets, and gangsta pinstripes are a staple peice in many of their advertisments and collections, and their ultimate success has come from determination and two great minds.

3. Vivienne Westwood
As we speak Vivienne Westwood continues to design outstanding and shocking fashion from what started as a daring decision to invent punk fashion. She has become incredibly popular throughout her career for being rebellious with her punk collections and introducing tight leather and the idea that a person should wear safety pins and dog collars as part of their fashion.

4. Gianni Versace
Gianni was commonly known for his siren dresses wore on celebrities and royalties alike, but also his innovative thinking to combine fashion and art to create stunning peices, as well as using unconventional materials such as aluminum and combined leather and rubber. After Gianni's tragic death, his sister Donatella took over the company as wished by Gianni.

5. Coco Chanel
Coco chanel is the great creator of what we all know as "little black dress". She changed the way women dressed dramatically, and her sophistication, class and independence all show in her work. After Chanel passed away, the company was handed over to Karl Lagerfeld, to keep Chanels fashion vision alive for the future.

6. Alexander Mcqueen
Raw energy: Alexander McQueen was hailed as one of British fashion's brightest starsAlexander McQueenAlexander McQueen Alexander Mcqueen was incredibly rebellious, unique and inventive with his designs. His amazing imagination meant that he could bring creativity to whatever he wanted.  His work was worn by many celebrities including Lady Gaga and Rhianna, and after his tragic death bought sadness to many, we will never know what he had in store for his unfinished collection 2010.

7. Giorgio Armarni
Giorgio Armarni started out in fashion as a window dresser and went on to become one of the most influencial fashion designers in the world. He is most commonly known in Italy for his numerous franchises including: the famous jeans to a Pat McGrath-designed makeup line, over 2000 emporia worldwide and over $1 billion sales per year. Armani truly is an incredibly succesful designer.

8.Christian Dior
in 1950 when Christian Dior's designs took off, he had established a new look of curvaceous silhouettes that made liberal use of fabrics despite post-war rations. Dior has rocketed since then and what Christian had started off has become a huge part of modern fashion today.

9. Yves Saint Laurent
Yves Saint Laurent's legacy as a king of fashion designers, who created a masterpiece of a brand, keeps growing. From his legendary smoking suit "le smoking", to sheer blouses, jumpsuits, and the reefer jacket, his many inventions have taken a great influence on fashion today.  In October 1998 Yves Saint Laurent showed his last ready-to-wear collection for the Rive Gauche label he had founded more than 30 years before. He carried on his haute couture until 2002

10. Vera Wang
Vera Wang is especially known for her outstanding wedding collections which don't just include dresses but fine china to invitations. Vera is very romantic and glamorous and this side of her personality appears in all of her dresses with their rich embellishments, artful layers, and sumptuous jewel-tone fabrics. Jennifer Lopez and Victoria Beckham wore her dresses on their wedding days whilst Keira Knightley and Michelle Williams have favoured her on the red carpet.
